How to Buy

  • Once you've found the whisky you'd like to buy, you'll see all of the other buyers and the sellers on the item page

  • The other buyers are on the left, and the sellers are on the right
  • The seller with the lowest price for your bottle is marked "Lowest Offer". Click "Buy Now" on this offer to view the images and other relevant information for this bottle
  • If you're happy to proceed click "Confirm Purchase" and you'll be taken to the checkout
  • Other sellers and the price of their bottles are to the right of the Lowest Offer seller
  • You can click "Buy Now" on these offers and purchase one of these bottles if you prefer based on the images and other relevant information provided
  • If you are looking to buy but don't want to purchase one of the bottles currently available, you can click the "Buy" button, enter the price which you would be willing to pay and click "Place Bid". Your interest to buy or "Bid" will appear in the list along with the other interested buyers

How to Sell

  • Once you've found the whisky you'd like to sell, you'll see all of the other sellers and the buyers on the item page

  • The buyers are on the left, and the other sellers are on the right
  • The buyer willing to pay the highest price for your bottle is marked "Highest Bid". Click "Sell Now" to sell to this buyer
  • You'll be required to upload images and other relevant information for your bottle. Once done click "Confirm Sale"
  • Other buyers and the price they are willing to pay are to the left of the Highest Bid buyer
  • You can click "Sell Now" on these bids and sell your bottle to one of these buyers if you prefer
  • If you are looking to sell but don't want to sell immediately to one of the buyers currently available, you can click the "Sell" button, enter the price which you would be willing to sell and click "Place Offer". Your interest to sell or "Offer" will appear in the list along with the other sellers

Commission and Fees

Buyers

  • Buyer Commission is 8% including VAT
  • This is added to the matched price of a bottle at the checkout
  • Registering your interest in the market to buy a bottle at a specified price is free


Sellers

  • There is no seller commission - sellers keep the full amount of the match price
  • Registering your bottle for sale in the market at a specified price is free
  • The bottle stays with the seller until it's sold so no postage or insurance costs are incurred until there is a successful trade and the bottle is sent to the buyer


There are no other commissions or fees

Item Restrictions

There are a few items which are not permitted on Liquid Whisky

Bottles:

  • Beer, wine, cider, liqueurs, or any other non-spirit alcohol
  • Scotch Malt Whisky Society Bottlings. This is in line with their membership rules
  • Unofficial or home made bottlings
  • Any bottle which is unsealed (including unsealed samples and miniatures)
  • Bottles in generally poor condition, including leakages and mould


General:

  • Merchandise. This includes any food products (whether separate or associated with a bottle set), cask ends, books, magazines and loose glasses (bottles as part of a set containing glasses are permitted)

Requesting New Bottle Markets

If you can't find the bottle you want to buy or sell on Liquid Whisky, send us a request and we will add it

Please use the new bottle request form to submit your request. This form is also accessible using the + button on the left hand panel of the website

Postage and Insurance

In order to make all prices which buyers see comparable, sellers must include postage costs when offering a bottle for sale

It is strongly advised that all bottles posted by sellers to buyers are insured in case of loss or damage during transit. Similarly this cost should be included in the seller's offer price

Available Countries

Liquid Whisky is currently only available in the UK due to the complications associated with international licensing laws. Rest assured though we are working hard to offer Liquid Whisky to as many countries as we can

If you are outside of the UK and interested in Liquid Whisky please reach out to us using the information in our contact us page as we'd like to make sure we're prioritising the right countries

Disputes or Issues

If for any reason you are dissatisfied with the service provided, or if there are any issue with the bottle received please contact us and we will endeavour to resolve the issue as quickly as possible

Liquid Whisky also offers access to an Alternative Dispute Resolution service. This service allows us to refer disputes to an independent body, and can also be used by you if you are ever unhappy with how we have handled any complaint

Counterfeit Bottles

Liquid Whisky takes counterfeiting, fraud and unlawful activity very seriously

If a Seller or other user provides a counterfeit product, Liquid Whisky reserve the right to take actions including notifying law enforcement bodies of the fraudulent activity, charging the seller for costs including a full refund to the buyer as well as suspension and removal of a user's account
